Speaking of music…
What’s with The Downer’s Grove Golf Club and the attraction of Rock and Roll fame?
I had the privilege of playing golf with Baxter Teal, of famed Rock band Deepfield (Vocals / Guitar), at the Downers Grove Golf Course last summer.
[Side note - Yes, even Rock musicians need an outlet. Dweezil Zappa - Son of legendary guitarist Frank; plays at Lakeside in L.A., Tico Torres - Bon Jovi drummer made cut in '06 Dunhill Links pro-am. Check out the ranking's of the top musicians who play golf.]
An all around nice guy and a good golfer. Great long distance driver.
You can purchase their hit, ‘Into the Flood’, on iTunes and check out their album, ‘Archetypes and Repetition’.
Check out their web site at – www.myspace.com/deepfield
You can also catch them on SIRIUS – XM satellite radio.
And, once again, this summer, I had the pleasure of playing golf with Jim Pilster, formally known as “J.C. Hooke”, who was a member of the Rock Band, ‘The Cryan’ Shames’ in the late sixties!
One of the biggest hits that came out of this group was, “Sugar and Spice” which also became a big hit for the British group, ‘The Searchers’.
You can catch it on iTunes!
A very good golfer with a great attitude and nice guy to be around. We had a fun foresome that day!

Last, Mr. Cheeseburger himself, Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy Buffett in Downers Grove? Yes.
No, I have not played Golf with him but, you can bite into a great cheeseburger after playing golf, in Downers Grove, at his restaurant, “Cheeseburger in Paradise” just up the street. And yes, he has made a couple of appearances and performed here.

Moneyball starring Brad Pit – Moneyball is a 2011 biographical sports drama film directed by Bennett Miller and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film is based on Michael Lewis’s 2003 book of the same name, an account of the Oakland Athletics baseball team’s 2002 season and their general manager Billy Beane’s (Brad Pitt) attempts to assemble a competitive team with statistical data analysis and pure economics.

Hitting Golf balls, at my favorite driving range, with my Persimmon [wood] driver. Everyone snears until…they hear that beautiful crack-of-the-wood and what I can do with it.
Mountain Biking! Participate in the Chicago L.A.T.E. Ride.
You have got to try this once! Imagine 10,000 Moutain bikes gathering at Fountain Square, Chicago at midnight!! (Five starting positions each with 2k bikes!) – Click here to view pics -
It was great to grab the Cross Country Skis from the garage during day two of the 2011 Chicago Blizzard.
Just a little encouragement to get the front of my boots into the ski’s bindings and then it was, left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot…
I had access to all the streets to myself!
Met a lot of people who were digging out and cheering me on!
I regret not taking a camera along and recording everyone I met and talked with and post on Twitter and Facebook.
